Talking about nutrition is like talking about religion or politics.
What we know and believe about nutrition varies and this influences what we practice. Many of us have tried a diet that has helped us lose weight, only to watch the weight creep back on, in and around. For the sake of common ground, there are two things I am sure we can all agree on:
Most of us know we need to eat more fruits and vegetables, exercise more and handle stress better; but knowledge isn’t usually the key motivator to change.
The fundamentals for health and wellness stay the same; but the approach, the prescription, the goals and the achievements for each of us will be different. Our approach is to lead you to sustainable behavior change, through outcome based goals and actionable and achievable steps that work for you.
One of the most memorable and practical articles I have read was published in Consumer Reports, June 2005. The article reported on the results rating 9 diets. In conclusion: There is not one best diet for everyone. There were nearly 8,000 successful dieters in their survey, and those dieters consistently listed, as the most effective strategy used for losing weight and keeping it off over time was, “my own diet and exercise regimen”. Bingo!
- We should eat more fruits and vegetables
- We should eat less processed foods

My name is Kathryn Scoblick and I created Health Inspires because I know it does.
I know when you are taking care of yourself; you are inspired in other areas of your life. I believe that we cannot separate or compartmentalize areas of our lives. All pieces of overall health and wellness run together at some level. Mind, body, spirit is meaningful.
I have been a Health and Wellness Coach my whole life and didn’t know it.
I have been discussing food and nutrition with whomever was interested….and even some that weren’t, from the time I chose “food and nutrition” as a high school elective. I read Covert Bailey’s Fit or Fat (relevant for the time period), and I am a lifelong athlete. When I got to Aggieland, (Gig’em!), I taught aerobics and cooked many of my meals at home.
I have worked with parents and children educating them on making healthy choices and informing them about our food industry, marketing, healthy foods and how to navigate the grocery store. I have always been a fan of reading ingredients and not the label.

I am grateful to my parents and grandparents for talking nutrition before it was cool.
I have memories of snacking on healthy foods such as avocados (cut in half, scored, lemon salt pepper-eat it with a spoon-yum!), artichokes and sardines and having refrigerator drawers full of fruit to choose from. For many seasons my mom and dad had a garden so we could enjoy fresh vegetables. We had the typical kid food too, don’t get me wrong. Ding Dongs were in and so was Hamburger Helper. But the norm was real food, balance and moderation most of the time.
I believe most of what we do is behavioral.
Most of what we do revolves around our habits and rituals. Once you recognize the psychology behind your behaviors and the meaning you have created for those, you can take corrective action. We get what we focus on.
No more gimmicks and quick fixes. There are no short cuts to the things you truly desire in your life. I can show you the way and the "how-to" for sustainable behavior change that enhances your life once and for all.
